PARCC

FROM THE HUNTERDON COUNTY SUPERINTENDENT:

The NJ Department of Educations has conducted numerous meetings in communities across the state seeking input on how to reform our state assessments to better serve the needs of our students, provide parents with useful performance data, and meet our federal and state assessment requirements.  Here at the county office, we are pleased to announce an upcoming event seeking Hunterdon County’s perspective on the current and future state of assessments.

The PARCC Listening Tour meeting for our county will be held at the Route 12 Hunterdon County Complex, Building 1 on Thursday, June 21, 2018 at 1:00 p.m.

What is PARCC?

The Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers (PARCC) is a group of states working together to develop a set of assessments that measure whether students are on track to be successful in college and their careers. For more information, see the official links below.

This year, CTSD will be administrating the PARCC test to Grades 3 through 8. All testing begins in the morning. Make-up testing may take place in the morning or afternoon.

PARCC testing will be April 16, 2018 through May 25, 2018.

(1st and 2nd Grades do not take the PARCC.)

What can my student prepare to take the PARCC assessment?
As the PARCC assessment is done online and requires typewritten responses (including written responses to math questions) students should hone their keyboarding skills. Some free, online, typing practice resources can be found at the ABCya! site ( http://www.abcya.com/search.htm?text=typing) or TypingClub.com (http://www.typingclub.com/).
